Veterinary Technologist Assistant
​The Dauphin & Ste Rose Veterinary Clinics are seeking a caring and empathetic animal lover to join our team as a Veterinary Technologist Assistant (VTA). As a Vet Tech Assistant, you are responsible for supporting the RVT Team in caring for our patients while delivering exceptional customer service to their humans. Your role reflects our commitment to treating all clients and patients with respect, compassion, and empathy.

Position Details
Dauphin Location: 1801 Main Street South
and/or
Ste Rose Location: 15 Tucker Street
Term: Permanent, Full Time, Part Time, and Seasonal positions available (20-40 hours per week)
​Clinic Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Compensation: $18.00 - $21.00 (based on experience)
Job Duties
Important tasks performed by VTAs include:

Greeting clients & patients and creating a warm and friendly environment

Assisting with reception & administrative duties and keeping accurate records and logs

Stocking, counting, and handling inventory

​​Advising clients on animal nutrition and routine healthcare (training provided)

Communicating animal care recommendations as provided by veterinarians (training provided)

Providing support to Veterinarians & Technicians during appointments in clinic & on farm

Feeding, cleaning, handling, and caring for large and small animal patients

Clinic maintenance and cleaning
-
Performing non-medical Patient Care such as nail trims, bathing, and brushing.
Skills Needed to Succeed
-
​Proven experience working with animals
-
Must be comfortable safely handling animals of all shapes and sizes
-
Ability to meet the job's physical demands (e.g., lift up to 60 lbs, stand for long periods of time, squatting to restrain animals, bending over, etc)

Familiarity with various computer systems and ability to pick up technology quickly
-
A strong desire to learn about mixed animal veterinary medicine
-
Exceptional organizational and time management skills
-
Ability to adapt to change quickly and prioritize tasks based on urgency​
Experience that is "Nice to Have", but not required
-
Veterinary Assistant training certificate (or willingness to obtain with clinic sponsorship)

Previous animal industry experience (pet store, doggy daycare, kennel, etc.)
-
Hands on experience with animals such as 4H, shelter volunteering, family farm, etc.
