Veterinary Receptionist

​The Dauphin Veterinary Clinic is seeking a customer service representative to join our team as a front-desk Veterinary Receptionist.

 

As a receptionist, you are the heart of our practice. You make the first and last impression on clients, provide reassurance to owners, and keep the clinic running smoothly. Your role embodies our dedication to treating all clients and patients with respect, compassion, and empathy.

Position Details

Location: Dauphin Veterinary Clinic​

Term: Permanent, Full Time (40 Hours per week)

​Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15 am - 5:00 pm (1 hour Lunch Break)​

Compensation: $42 000 - $50 000 (based on experience) 

Start Date: As soon as possible

Closing Date for Applicants: Open until filled

Job Duties

Important tasks performed by the reception team include:

  • Greeting clients & patients and creating a warm and friendly environment

  • Triaging incoming calls, booking appointments, prioritizing walk ins, and managing staff schedules

  • Answering emails, text messages, and phone inquiries

  • Maintaining client accounts and patient medical records 

  • Managing communication between clients and doctors as well as amongst the team

  • Clinic maintenance and cleaning 

  • Processing payments and performing day end.

  • ​​Advising clients on animal nutrition and routine healthcare (training provided)

  • Communicating animal care recommendations as provided by veterinarians (training provided)

Required Qualifications

Education: Completed High School Diploma required

Experience: Customer service: 5 years (preferred)

Physical Requirements: Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs​

The ideal candidate must have a proven track record in customer service. Although we are a veterinary clinic, our clients keep us in business. You will mainly interact with humans, and experience doing so calmly and professionally is essential.

Skills Needed to Succeed

  • ​Must be comfortable with technology and working with various computer systems

  • A strong desire to learn about mixed animal veterinary medicine

  • Professional written and verbal communication skills

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to adapt to change quickly and prioritize tasks based on urgency

Other Experience that is "Nice to Have", but not required

  • Veterinary Reception training certificate (or willingness to obtain with clinic sponsorship)

  • Previous clinical experience (veterinary, medical, or dental clinic)

  • Previous animal industry experience (pet store, doggy daycare, kennel, etc.)

  • Experience with animals such as 4H, shelter volunteering, family farm, etc.
