RVT Team Leader

The RVT Team Leader collaborates with the practice manager to develop policies and procedures that enhance hospital productivity and efficiency. 

 

They also oversee the entire RVT team, providing coaching, training, and mentorship to RVTs at various stages of their professional career.

 

A comprehensive understanding of the RVT role in a mixed animal practice, along with hands-on experience, is essential.

Position Details

Term: Permanent, Full Time (37.5 - 40 Hours per week)

​Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 5:00pm (1 hour unpaid Lunch Break)​​

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: $60 000 - $75 000+ annual based on experience.

Relocation bonus: Negotiable for the right candidate.

Leadership Duties

  • Directs and oversees RVTs, tech assistants, RVT practicum students, and volunteers.

  • Provides training, mentorship, and coaching to improve performance and professional development of individual RVTs.

  • Monitors RVT compliance with job descriptions and ensures adherence to policies and procedures in accordance with the employee handbook.

  • Enforces, follows, develops and updates medical protocols and procedures as needed.

  • Effectively communicates, demonstrates, and trains staff on policy and procedural changes.

  • Leads one 30-minute team meeting each month.

  • Leads client education initiatives, including developing marketing materials, handouts, and in-clinic campaigns.

  • Participates in ongoing leadership training and personal development. 

  • Meet regularly with the Practice Manager to share ideas and feedback.

  • Establishing a high standard of professionalism, fostering a collaborative environment, managing conflicts effectively, and ensuring that all RVT team members deliver consistently exceptional patient care. 

Required Qualifications

Education: Completed RVT diploma from a CVMA-accredited veterinary technologist program.

Experience: 

  • 7+ years work experience as an RVT in a clinical setting is required.

  • Previous work or volunteer experience in a leadership role an asset.

  • Additional leadership training is an asset.

Licensing: Must hold a Registered Veterinary Technologist membership in good standing with the MVMA and MVTA, or have the ability to obtain and maintain a license in Manitoba. 

Continuing Education: Must complete 15 hours of accredited continuing education annually. ​
